Prague NightlifeYou will have a lot of options in Prague when looking for ways to pass the time in the evening hours. The variety of options is growing in terms of price, crowds, and more. There are a some serious discos in Prague. Radost FX, behind Weneslas Square has many visiting star DJs for the dance floor downstairs. Upstairs, it is a hip lounge and vegetarian restaurant. Karlovy Lazne is a mega club near the Charles Bridge, with three different dance floors on different levels. There can be a long line here along the Vltava river in warmer months. On Wenceslas Square, there is an elevator entrance that will take you up to the club, Duplex. Mick Jagger had his 60th birthday party here while the Stones were touring. Perhaps this sounds like a contradiction, but for a generally younger crowd, there is 80s night Fridays and Saturdays at Lucerna Music Club on Wenceslas Square. This is a fairly large club and it regularly fills to capacity. Another favorite of young people is M1 Secret Lounge on Masna, near Old Town Square. For blues and/or jazz, some good performances can be caught at U Maleho Glena, near Lesser Town Square. The performance area is very small with just a few tables. You might want to check the performance schedule on the Internet and book ahead if you can. The same goes for Ungelt Jazz and Blues club, behind the Tyn Church. Serious music lovers should not ignore concerts at the Rudolfinum Dvorak Hall which is a home to the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. This concert hall has excellent acoustics, appropriate for oratorios and symphonic music, and has an exceptional organ. The smaller Suk Hall is also sometimes host to events. Tickets can be reserved or booked online, but need to be collected from the box office before it shuts, as it is not always possible to buy tickets for some events on the door. The National Theatre is a venue for the first-class ballet, opera, and drama. It has a magnificent neo-Renaissance interior. The theatre was opened for the first time in 1881 to honor the visit of crown prince Rudolf only to be destroyed by fire shortly after this. It was rebuilt and inaugurated two years later in 1883 with a performance of Smetana’s opera Libuše composed for this occasion. Tickets for many shows can be booked in advance from ticket agencies, which also have full listings of what’s playing today in Prague. There are several of them centrally located. One is Ticketcentrum (Rytiřská 31, Praha 1, Mon-Fri: 9:00-12:30, 13:00-17:30). Another one is TicketPro with an office at Prague Tourist Center (Rytiřská 12, Praha 1, Daily: 9:00-20:00) and another location at Pasaž Rokoko (Vaclavske Nam. 38, Praha 1; Mon-Fri: 9:30-13:30, 14:00-18:00).
